UREF Signal Block Diagram

The User Reference (UREF) features a unity-gain, non-inverting buffer for stable reference delivery. Multiple UREF configuration options are available to suit different application needs.

UREF provides a reference voltage to both internal circuits, like DAC1 and DAC2, and an external pin, as shown in the accompanying block diagram.

The multiple inputs available to UREF allow it to provide more reference options than a traditional internal voltage reference. This allows it to support external reference applications, such as op amp input biasing.

Regarding this Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC), the UREF input is distributed to ADC1–ADC5 through the internal AN7 signal. (See the data sheet excerpt, Table 16-2.) This allows the UREF voltage to be monitored by the ADC.
