Step 1: Download and Installation

Download and Install MPLAB® X IDE

The latest version of MPLAB X IDE is located in the "MPLAB X IDE Downloads, Documentation and Other Resources" section of the "MPLAB X IDE" page. Version 6.30 is currently available; however, version 6.30 or any later release can be used.

Once the file is downloaded, open it and proceed with the following installation steps.

In the Setup window, click Next.

In the next window, select I accept the agreement and then click Next.

Click Next and keep all the other configurations as they are​​​​​​.

Select the applications and Microchip device support as highlighted below, and click Next.

Note: PIC32CM LS00 Curiosity Nano+ Touch Evaluation Kit is a 32-bit MCU, hence, the 32-bit MCUs and MPUs option is selected here. If needed, installation of 8-bit and 16-bit (dsPIC® DSCs) can also be selected.

Now click Next and then the installation will begin.

Once the installation is finished, click Finish.

Install the MPLAB XC32 Compiler

Once the MPLAB X IDE installation process is complete, the setup wizard will automatically navigate to the MPLAB XC32 Compiler installation section. Select Next to proceed.

Now select I accept the agreement and click Next in the License Agreement section. Also, click Next for the Device Support From Device Family Packs (DFPs), Licensing, Installation Directory, and Compiler Settings sections as shown in the acompanying images. Leave other configurations as is.

Now, the MPLAB XC32 Compiler is ready to install. Click Next to install the compiler.

Click Next for the Major Update Warning and Installation Complete - Licensing Information sections.

Note: The Host ID shown in the image was generated automatically by the system. You can continue without altering the generated Host ID.

Click Finish to complete the installation of the MPLAB XC32 Compiler.

Note: The steps outlined above detail the installation process for the MPLAB XC32 Compiler version 5.00. These steps will also apply to future versions.
