Favorites Window Usage in the MPLAB® X IDE

What is the Favorites Window?

The Favorites window enables the user to access any file on the computer or network within the MPLAB® X IDE environment without having to create a project for that file. This is especially useful when you want to access a file outside of the project.

The Favorites window can be accessed by choosing Window > Favorites.

When the Favorites window is first opened, it contains the computer's home directory only. You can add any folder/file by right-clicking on the window and choosing Add to Favorites….

Project level commands, such as Run Project, are not available from the Favorites window. For such commands to be available, the project needs to be opened in the Projects window.
