SAM9x75 Round Display Kit (RDK) User's Guide for Microchip Graphics Suite (MGS) Harmony
Introduction
The SAM9X75 MPU is a high-performance, cost-optimized ARM926EJ-S CPU-based embedded MPU running up to 800 MHz, supporting Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI®) Display Serial Interface (DSI), Low-Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS), and Red, Green, Blue (RGB) display interfaces with 2D graphics acceleration, Gigabit Ethernet with Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN), and Controller Area Network Flexible Data-rate (CAN-FD).
The SAM9X75 is well-suited for industrial and medical applications, with or without graphical displays up to 1024 x 768, as well as home automation and security system gateways, including access control with biometrics.
SAM9x75 Round Display Kit
The SAM9X75 Round Display Kit features a SAM9X75D2G MPU and is the hardware platform for the Round Display Instrument Cluster Reference Design.
The Round Display Kit (RDK) includes the following on-board peripherals.
- Gigabit Ethernet
- 2 Gbit SDRAM embedded in SiP
- WILCS02PE Wi-Fi®
- WBZ351PE Bluetooth® LE with PTA
- MIPI-DSI® Display (720x720)
- QSPI Flash

Application Examples
The SAM9x75 microprocessor can run complex graphical user interfaces with a wide array of displays and display interfaces. Below are application examples that were developed for the SAM9x75. The embedded simulator outputs are fully interactive and run the same GUI application as the target hardware.
The SAM9x75 RDK Microchip Graphics Suite (MGS) Harmony application examples are available on GitHub.

Showcase Applications
These projects feature practical, real-world application graphical user interfaces that showcase the HMI capabilities of the SAM9x75 running MGS Harmony. MGS Harmony leverages the on-chip SAM9x75 graphics peripherals, like the GPU and LCD controller, and memory to run these applications in an optimized way.
MGS Motorbike
This application features a motorbike cluster UI on a round form-factor display. The application utilizes the MGS Harmony library to render sharp graphics with images and vector-drawn gauge needles. It also features a simulated navigation map that utilizes the multi-layer LCD to overlay the GUI on top of it.
